San Francisco, the “city by the bay,” is world-famous for its reputation as a beautiful metropolitan area adorned by the shining Golden Gate bridge.

Unfortunately, due to spendthrift practices by California liberals and well-intentioned but misguided policies, the city is slowly becoming — well, a dump.

An expensive dump, at that: It costs 62.6 percent more to live in San Francisco than the U.S. national cost-of-living average, according to a 2018 Smart Asset evaluation.

And what do San Francisco residents get for their tax money? A thoughtfully and tastefully cultivated city free of drugs, litter, and crime? Hardly.

“San Francisco is quickly turning into a dump,” noted Natural News, a health publication, “with people injecting themselves with drugs in broad daylight, tent camps and garbage lining the sidewalks, petty theft running rampant and even human feces scattered across the city.”

Even the president of San Francisco Travel, the city’s visitors bureau tasked with bringing tourists to the city, is at a loss to explain the current state of affairs — and is begging officials to do more.

“The streets are filthy. There’s trash everywhere. It’s disgusting,” Joe D’Alessandro told the San Francisco Chronicle, adding that he’s traveled the globe and can say with certainty that San Francisco now distinguishes itself for all the wrong reasons.

“I’ve never seen any other city like this — the homelessness, dirty streets, drug use on the streets, smash-and-grabs.”

He added, “How can it be? How can it have gotten to this point?”

“We can’t be quiet anymore,” D’Alessandro emphasized. “We’ve got such a glorious history, such a beautiful setting, and the fact is, we’re letting it all slip away into this quality of life now that is not good for anybody.”

San Francisco sends less trash to its landfills than any other in the United States, according to a CNBC report.

Instead, the city aims for “zero waste” through banning such plastic items as straws (leading to even more plastic use), as well as mandatory composting, enacted in 2009.

That may seem like an environmentalist utopia — but the reality is far different.

The streets are “a dangerous mix of drug needles, garbage, and feces” throughout downtown San Francisco, an NBC investigation this year revealed. The investigative unit saw at least a dozen drug needles on one block, which they found as preschool children walked by.

“We see poop, we see pee, we see needles, and we see trash,” a teacher told NBC News. “Sometimes they ask, ‘What is it?’ and that’s a conversation that’s a little difficult to have with a two-year old. But we just let them know that those things are full of germs, that they are dangerous, and they should never be touched.”

Official reports of human feces and drug needles have skyrocketed from July 2008 to January 2018, according to NBC’s reporting — from 345 reports of human waste to 2,160 reports and from 32 drug needle reports to 694 reports.

Annual events in San Francisco like the April 20 “pot-smoking celebration” on Hippie Hill has led to more cleanup nightmares and even hospitalizations. The unsanctioned event costs the city between $80,000 and $100,000 in cleanup costs every year, KQED reported.

In addition, some dozen people or so were hospitalized at this year’s gathering, which numbered around 20,000 people — likely due to mixing marijuana and fentanyl, KGO reported. Watch the video on the emergency, below.

San Francisco may call itself a “sanctuary city” for illegal immigrants, but it’s far from a “sanctuary” from disease and crime for the law-abiding citizens who live there.
