Never-Trumper Rick Wilson, who writes for The Daily Beast, simply could not escape the facts Monday night on Fox News’ “The Story with Martha MacCallum.”

“How do you explain consumer confidence numbers up 14 percent under Trump?” host Martha MacCallum asked him after Wilson referred to quantitative easing from the Federal Reserve.

It began under the Obama administration and is responsible, in part, for the economic boon under President Donald Trump’s watch.

Wilson did acknowledge the undeniably positive and stimulative effect of Trump’s Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, passed last December.

“So I’m just asking you this — what died? What died?” said MacCallum, referring to the title of Wilson’s recently released book, “Everything Trump Touches Dies: A Republican Strategist Gets Real About the Worst President Ever.”

He tried to shift back to talking points about Omarosa Manigault Newman and others of her ilk who have been summarily dismissed — but MacCallum wasn’t having it.

“What else died?” she interrupted, insisting Wilson get back on track with a discussion about what, precisely, had “died,” as the title of his book smugly indicates.

Wilson went with “the rule of law” as an alleged victim.

“This is a president [who] is at war with the FBI, at war with the Justice Department, who believes he operates in an extrajudicial fashion in a lot of different ways,” said Wilson.

“Donald Trump, he is a character that people bought into. And they love that character. They love the big, broad acting out [of] his emotions and all that other stuff.”

Who do you think would win the Presidency?

Then he added, “The people that have worked for him have come to grief, almost all of them. All of these people who were inside, and then they moved out —”

Really?

That must be news to thousands in the Trump administration who support the president’s agenda and are proud to be a part of making America great again.

“So why do 87 percent of Republicans support the president?” asked MacCallum, pointing out that most Americans, unlike Wilson, are not mired in the ins and outs of politics on a daily basis.

Note to talking heads with a book to promote: If you’re going to face off with others in this manner, best have your ducks in a row first.
