While authorities were still looking for Mollie Tibbetts in Iowa, another young midwestern woman allegedly lost her life at the hands of an illegal immigrant in the bordering state of Minnesota.

On Tuesday, the same day that Mollie Tibbetts’ body was found in an Iowa cornfield, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials slapped a detainer on Fraider Diaz-Carbajal (shown above left) for allegedly killing a different woman in a neighboring state.

Diaz-Carbajal, deported in 2012, illegally re-entered the United States and was booked Monday at the Scott County, Minnesota, jail for the second-degree murder of 27-year-old ex-girlfriend Enedelia Perez Garcia (shown above right) on August 12, the Star Tribune and other outlets reported.

Diaz-Carbajal — who also used the alias Jose Macias Carrasco — allegedly stabbed Garcia numerous times all over her body. The alleged stabbing occurred in the apartment they formerly shared in Shakopee, Minnesota, a southwestern suburb of Minneapolis-St. Paul.

Not only was the suspect here illegally — but he also had multiple convictions for driving while under the influence and one for domestic assault, say ICE officials.

A woman who was living in the apartment — and whose children were present at the time — witnessed the grisly event, as Fox 9 detailed.

The woman saw Diaz-Carbajel stab Garcia, who was pinned next to the bed.

Diaz-Carbajel then turned the large knife on himself, slashing his own neck.

Enedelia Garcia, the ex-girlfriend, was declared dead at the scene. Diaz-Carbajel, who had several stab wounds to the abdomen in addition to the self-inflicted neck wound, was treated at Hennepin County Medical Center.

The witness told authorities the pair had dated for three years, but that they’d parted ways a month before.

The suspect had moved out of the apartment “due to domestic abuse,” according to court records, and had returned to his apartment to retrieve some belongings when the disturbing incident occurred.
