Today, August 15, is Rep. Maxine Waters’ (D-Calif.) 80th birthday.

Lest the auspicious occasion be overlooked, President Donald Trump took some time out of his busy day to wish the opposing party’s firebrand well.

At the start of the business day, here’s what he tweeted:

The seemingly innocuous post has some deliciously troll-worthy aspects to it that will leave conservatives with a quiet giggle.

Trump has regularly referred to Rep. Waters as the leader and/or “face” of her party, largely in jest.

There is no love lost between the two. They’ve had a back-and-forth war of words beginning long before Trump entered the Oval Office.

Waters actually told MSNBC host Jonathan Capehart, in fact, that her birthday wish was to see Trump removed from office.

The birthday girl did not mince words when given such a golden opportunity to slam her nemesis.

“My biggest birthday wish would be that we’re able to get a leader of this country who represents us, who has the respect of all of our allies all over the world. Someone who has an appreciation for the Constitution. Someone who does not lie every morning when they get up with these tweets. Someone who not only respects women, but all of the people. And instead of dividing us, would take leadership to bring us all together.”

Lovely.

Clearly, Waters does not believe President Trump represents the fulfillment of that oh-so-respectful birthday wish.

Trump has a regular habit of giving Waters a taste of her own medicine.

One of his go-to comments about Waters involves referencing her “low IQ.”

His choice of saying “Democrat Party” rather than “Democratic Party” is also rich in meaning.

President Trump has intentionally used the phrase, dropping the “ic” at the end, as a bit of a snarky dig.
