You will not believe — or actually you might — how some in the mainstream media actually defended the violent thugs and protesters who took to the streets of Washington, D.C., on Sunday and physically threatened some drivers and others.

On his show on Monday night, CNN host Chris Cuomo went out of his way to excuse left-wing Antifa rioters who counterprotested the so-called Unite the Right 2 rally on Sunday.

While noting the “pathetic” turnout of a few dozen racist white nationalists, Cuomo then expanded on his narrative to say that the throngs of Antifa counterprotesters who provoked the violence were “anti-hate” demonstrators.

The CNN host said left-wing “rioters” in the crowd — who are not the same as “protesters” — were “wrong” for assaulting journalists and police, but that “all punches are not equal.”

“In the eyes of the law, yes,” he said. “But in the eyes of good and evil, here’s the argument: If you’re a punk who comes and starts trouble in a mask and hurts people, you’re not about any virtuous cause. You’re just somebody who’s going to be held to the standard of doing something wrong.”

“But when someone comes to call out bigots and it gets hot, even physical, are they equally wrong as the bigot they are fighting? I argue no,” he actually said.

Cuomo argued that “drawing a moral equivalency” between the hateful white supremacists at the rally and those who fight hate only “emboldens hate.”

The Unite the Right 2 rally on Sunday occurred a year after the deadly white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia. After the incident that killed one counterprotester in a vehicle-ramming attack — and two police officers died in a helicopter crash — President Donald Trump drew media fury for implicating Antifa protesters in the violence.

“We condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides,” Trump said, referring to both the white supremacist and the Antifa rioters.

After the media exploded with indignation that violent communist anarchists would be condemned in the same breath with racist right-wing groups, the president doubled down on his remarks.

President Trump this past Saturday struck a similar chord by condemning all kinds of hatred and violence in the broadest terms.

“The riots in Charlottesville a year ago resulted in senseless death and division. We must come together as a nation. I condemn all types of racism and acts of violence. Peace to ALL Americans!” Trump tweeted.

The country has law enforcement officers for a reason. Antifa protesters who threaten other people, commit violent acts, or even attack America’s hardworking police officers do not make the case they are less dangerous than the fascists they claim to be fighting against.
