Some two dozen or so protesters showed up on Sunday for a “Unite the Right” rally in Washington, D.C. — but that group was far dwarfed by counterprotesters who had been gathering in the nation’s capital during the day.

Media people, of course, were also heavily present.

Here’s how FoxCarolina.com put the showdown in Washington — as the police worked hard to avoid any duplication of what happened in Charlottesville, Virginia, last year, by separating the groups and allowing them to vent their points of views.

Shouts of “Go home!” and “You’re not welcome here!” greeted [organizer Jason] Kessler and his band of supporters as they left the [Foggy Bottom] metro station.

Police officers escorted the group as they began making their way east toward Lafayette Square Park, where a crowd of counterprotesters chanted, “Nazis go home!” and “Shame! Shame! Shame!”

The anti-racist protesters had been gathering as part of a series of counterprotests planned in Washington, led by members of 40 anti-racism groups. The Shut it Down D.C. Coalition, for example, [had] scheduled its own rally beginning at noon to counter “Unite the Right 2.”

Large crowds of counterprotesters gathered in the early afternoon in D.C.’s Freedom Plaza, where they held a “United Against Hate” demonstration featuring a series of guest speakers.

“Our message is to let everyone know we support each other,” said Maurice Cook, a co-organizer for the March for Racial Justice, which organized the counterprotest. Attendees, he said, may express themselves in “whichever way you feel comfortable in expressing your civil liberties.”

The white nationalists “are losers,” noted Laura Ingraham on Monday morning on her radio program, “The Laura Ingraham Show.”

She also pointed out how the media often play a part in inflating the relevance and exposure of a mere few dozen protesters.

But what got little or no attention by the mainstream media on Sunday were the actions of some members of Black Lives Matter. Some in ski masks went up to cars that were driving down nearby blocks and threatened some of the drivers.

“Black Lives Matter activists can be seen in [some] Breitbart News footage kicking [a] vehicle and demanding the car reverse. The car eventually backed up,” as Breitbart reported.

The violent rampage was recorded — watch it here:
