Even before President Donald Trump arrived in the state of Montana for a major rally Thursday evening, protesters were out and about with signs and pickets addressing the current illegal immigration border crisis.

“Trump you are a shameless coward using children to extort the American people,” read one protester’s sign outside Great Falls, the site of the rally.

Another sign said, “Reject racism! Reject Trump!”

Nevertheless, large crowds were expected at the Four Seasons Arena at Expo Park in Great Falls this evening to hear the president’s remarks, scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. local Montana time / 6 p.m. Eastern time. Matt Rosendale is “hoping to unseat Montana’s senior senator, Jon Tester, a Democrat,” as the (Helena) Independent Record reported on Thursday.

“Tester is one of 10 Democrat senators running [in the midterms this fall] in states where Trump won in 2016, and the race is expected to be expensive and garner national attention.”
