Leftist Hollywood predictably lost its collective mind over President Donald Trump’s Monday press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki — and the late-night hosts quickly followed suit.
One of the more extreme critics among the so-called comedian bunch was Seth Meyers.
Meyers gave a “closer look” to Trump and Putin’s joint press conference, in which the president seemed to defend Russia and its president against claims of meddling in the United States presidential election in 2016.
The comedian called Trump’s conduct “one of the most surreal performances by a president in modern American history.” If that weren’t enough of an extreme statement, Meyers continued attacking the president’s relationship with Putin.
“It’s only a matter of weeks before he ‘Single White Females’ Putin,” Meyers said.
“Single White Female” is a 1992 thriller about a woman who grows dangerously obsessed with her roommate — and essentially tries to “become” her and take over her life.
Going after Trump for the Putin press conference was not enough, as he also attacked the president for a recent video that showed him walking with Queen Elizabeth II. The video shows Trump taking baby steps and waiting for the 92-year-old queen to catch up to him, but leftists like Meyers saw something else.
“The queen just disappeared behind Trump,” said Meyers. “It’s like a royal eclipse. The only thing missing was Trump staring directly at it.”
Meyers added, straining for laughs, “He’s so wide, he completely covered a monarch!”
If Seth Meyers really wants to jump into political commentary, maybe he should try harder than dishing out some lame fat jokes and references to flicks from the 1990s.
