Special counsel Robert Mueller’s “ridiculous” indictment of 12 Russian officials last week emphasized the targeting of Democrats while omitting the targeting of Republicans, according to House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes.

“The indictment plays like they’re only going after the Democrats, when Bob Mueller and all his investigators and his lawyers know for a fact that [the Russians] also targeted Republicans. Why is that not in the indictment? It makes the indictment look ridiculous,” Nunes said on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures.”

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein announced last week that Mueller indicted 12 Russian officials in connection with the 2016 hacking into the computer networks of the Democratic National Committee and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

But Nunes said his committee knew “almost everything” in the indictment a year and a half ago, pointing to the report GOP members of his committee released on March 22, declaring that they had found “no evidence of collusion, coordination or conspiracy between the Trump campaign and the Russians.”

“Those findings were available March 22. If you remember, the media mocked us,” Nunes said. “They made fun of the Republicans. They said it was a whitewash. The Democrats said it was a whitewash … Then we had to fight with the intelligence agencies and the Department of Justice, so that they wouldn’t redact and they would declassify our report. That was finished in April.”

Nunes said the “entire report” included “nearly everything that’s in the indictment” and insisted “there’s more in this report” than “what’s in the indictment.”

“This is what’s very frustrating. It’s great that they indicted Russians. Yes, they did bad things,” Nunes noted. “However, in the indictment, they leave out some really important people that [the Russians] also went after.”

After noting that the GOP report found the Russians were targeting both Republicans and Democrats, Nunes wondered why the Department of Justice (DOJ) didn’t “allow this to be declassified so the American public can see this.”

“Then, it looks like all … Mueller did was validate our report, indict some Russians, and leave out, I think, some very pertinent … evidence that the American public should see, which is why we continue to have to fight,” Nunes said. “This report has been mocked by the media, has been mocked by the Democrats, and still is mostly redacted by the Department of Justice and the intelligence agencies.”
