Chick-fil-A lovers sporting cow costumes, apparel, or accessories can score a free entrée today, Tuesday, July 10 at the chain’s 2,200+ participating restaurants.

This is CFA’s 14th year of honoring its iconic “Eat Mor Chikin” cows — and demonstrating its appreciation for its customers by giving away literally millions of breakfast biscuits, chicken sandwiches, and even full meals for children.

“The cow is a big part of who we are, so being able to invite our community into that piece of our identity is truly a special occasion,” Moira Dugan, social media coordinator and team member at the Flemington, New Jersey, restaurant, told LifeZette on Tuesday.

“As a team, I think this is one of our favorite days of the year. It happens once a year, so we all start looking forward to it once summer begins; then once it is here, we are able to see how much we have successfully impacted the community through service and by cultivating special relationships,” Dugan added.

The CFA Flemington location has been deeply involved in supporting community-based initiatives. It was among the sponsors for “Operation #SafeSummer,” a local project encouraging helmet use among bike-riding children. Police who “caught” children wearing their helmets gave out “tickets” — i.e., gift cards — as rewards for the safe behavior; the rewards meant a free treat at the restaurant.

Nearly any cow-like item will do, but some customers go “udderly crazy” for the fun event.

This year’s #CowAppreciationDay giveaway promotion runs until 7 p.m. Nearly any cow-like item will do, but some customers go “udderly crazy” for the fun event.

Fans on social media were quick to celebrate, some appropriating the #CowAppreciationDay trending hashtag for jokes, memes, and mooooo-re, including a greeting from the “cows of Holland” and not-quite-the-same-idea messages from assorted cattle-related groups.
