Trump’s Chief Economic Adviser Kudlow Suffers Heart Attack

President takes time on Monday on his way to the summit in Singapore with Kim Jong-un to tweet the news

White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow has suffered a heart attack, President Donald Trump tweeted Monday, less than an hour before his summit in Singapore with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

Soon after it was first reported, Kudlow’s wife, Judy, told The Washington Post her husband was “fine,” and Fox News reported that as well on Monday night. Doctors reportedly said Kudlow is expected to make a full recover.

“Our Great Larry Kudlow, who has been working so hard on trade and the economy, has just suffered a heart attack. He is now in Walter Reed Medical Center,” the president tweeted.

Kudlow, familiar to Americans from years of cable television punditry, became Trump’s director of the National Economic Council in April, after former adviser Gary Cohn quit amid a dispute with the president over trade.

Kudlow, too, has a long résumé as a free trader. But he enthusiastically adopted Trump’s confrontational posture on the issue. He was coming off a feisty appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union” program on Sunday.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau “stabbed us in the back,” Kudlow said in response to a public spate between the Canadian leader and Trump during the Group of Seven (G-7) meeting.

Kudlow called Trudeau “polarizing,” adding, “He did a great disservice to the whole G-7. President Trump played that process in good faith. So I ask you: He gets up in the airplane and leaves, and then Trudeau starts blasting him at a domestic news conference? I am sorry, that’s a betrayal. That’s a double-cross.”
