Susan Sarandon revealed on Twitter on Thursday that she was arrested on Capitol Hill while protesting the Trump administration’s immigration policies.
“Arrested. Stay strong. Keep fighting,” the actress tweeted yesterday.
She gave no further explanation.
Sarandon tweeted this just three hours after she said she was arrested.
The Washington, D.C., protest the 71-year-old actress took part in was put on by the Women’s March and the Center for Popular Democracy.
Some women at the protest wrapped themselves in foil blankets to represent the silver mylar blankets in which some children at the border have been photographed.
Powerful, beautiful action with hundreds of women saying we demand the reunification of families separated by immoral ICE policy. This is what Democracy looks like. #WomenDisobey https://t.co/NDHDISPTPD pic.twitter.com/szBOJ43D6y

Capitol Police have neither released a statement nor responded to various requests for comment in regards to Sarandon.
The “Dead Man Walking” actress has always been heavily involved in politics.
During the 2016 presidential election, she broke from the Hollywood leftist mold and refused to support Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. She instead cast her vote for the Green Party candidate, Jill Stein.
