Colin Kaepernick may not be able to find a job in the NFL these days, but he’s not lacking for work.

A Wrinkle in Time” director Ava DuVernay recently announced she’s developing a comedy series based around Kaepernick’s high school years.

She told Vanity Fair that Kaepernick “inspired” her with his national anthem protests.

“It’s ‘Friday Night Lights’ meets ‘Everybody Hates Chris,'” she said about the upcoming program. “What’s not to love?”

Considering how unpopular the NFL national anthem protests have been with much of the American public, a series celebrating the story of the man who originated those protests doesn’t seem the greatest idea in the world.

It remains to be seen whether the Kaepernick television show will even make it to air, but it’s clear that Hollywood and the mainstream media are working overtime to keep this former quarterback as relevant as possible.
