New findings published recently could turn accepted science on how species evolve on its head. These findings actually throw into question the widely accepted theory about the origin of many species — including man.

Scientists Mark Stoeckle from Rockefeller University in New York and David Thaler at the University of Basel in Switzerland published the results of a survey they did in the journal Human Evolution. Their survey looked at 5 million gene snapshots called DNA bar codes, reported Phys.org.

After they gathered these DNA bar codes from 100,000 animal species around the globe and deposited them into the U.S. government-run GenBank database, they saw something quite extraordinary.

The sweeping gene survey found that nine out of 10 species present on Earth today, including humans, entered the scene some 100,000 to 200,000 years ago.

Here’s how Phys.org explained it:

It is textbook biology, for example, that species with large, far-flung populations — think ants, rats, humans — will become more genetically diverse over time.

But is that true?

“The answer is no,” said Stoeckle, lead author of the study …

For the planet’s 7.6 billion people, 500 million house sparrows, or 100,000 sandpipers, genetic diversity “is about the same,” he told AFP.

“This conclusion is very surprising, and I fought against it as hard as I could,” Thaler also told AFP (Agence France-Presse), the international news agency headquartered in Paris.

“What’s astounding to me in hearing about this study is that although evolutionary science is still not totally established, it is taught as unwavering fact in grade school through college,” a mortgage professional from North Carolina told LifeZette. “I questioned evolution and defended creationism in high school and was basically mocked by teachers. Now it turns out there is so much more to learn — and each step seems to strengthen creationism’s case.”

In his 1859 book, “On the Origin of the Species,” widely considered the foundation for evolutionary biology, Charles Darwin himself wrote, “If it could be demonstrated that any complex organ [structure], existed which could not possibly have been formed by numerous, successive, slight modification, my theory would absolutely break down.”

Experts see more questions ahead for those who support evolution theories.

“There’s a great danger to the evolutionary model in this study in ways they don’t quite realize yet,” Dr. Nathaniel Jeanson, a research biologist for Answers in Genesis, told OneNewsNow of evolutionary theorists.

Jeanson, who holds a Ph.D. in cell development from Harvard University, said the same study also revealed there is no crossover species; this seemingly negates the ape-evolves-into-man construct depicted iconically in “The Road to Homo Sapiens” illustration.

A bird could develop into a better, stronger bird, for example — but it won’t eventually become a rabbit.

“The simplest interpretation is that life is always evolving,” Stoeckle, the study’s lead author, said of the new findings, downplaying their potential to be a major factor in the evolution versus creationism debate. “It is more likely that — at all times in evolution — the animals alive at that point arose relatively recently.”

Christians don’t have to “check their brains at the door.”

This new study proves Christians don’t have to “check their brains at the door” when they believe Scripture, including the Genesis account of creation, Abe Hamilton, general counsel for the American Family Association, told OneNewsNow.
