Yuuki is a little black cat with a serious longing to be reunited with her favorite human.

She misses her owner, Max Nimrichter, so much — who is currently in his first year of service in the U.S. Navy — that she regularly stares longingly at his framed photograph and often naps beside it, as The Dodo reported.

Here’s the back story (or cat story): About six months before leaving his home in Ohio for boot camp, Nimrichter, 19, adopted Yuuki from the Cleveland Animal Protective League.

He thought having a kitty around would help his mom deal with his absence, and he’s a huge animal lover himself.

“Max has always felt connections to any animals he was around,” his mom, Erin Nimrichter, told The Dodo. “He’s a sweetheart.”

But the young man and his cat had to end their daily snuggles when it was time for Max Nimrichter to ship out.

Yuuki had to find another way to be around his owner — and the answer was to look at an image of her military man in his uniform.

Amazingly, the cat regularly plunks herself down in front of his framed picture. (See Yuuki’s adoration in the video, above!)

??Today is National Flag Day… no better way to honor that then to say a prayer for this man who’s working toward defending it….. who I miss so much but will get to hug next week ??

“She just sits there, stares and meows and then lies down next to the picture to nap,” Erin Nimrichter said. “I know for sure she misses him.”

She’s even tested Yuuki to confirm that it’s her son’s picture — and not the surface it’s located on or the glass — that’s attracting the cat, said The Dodo.

But if the photo is moved, Yuuki will find it.

Luckily for the little cat, she will be seeing her soulmate again — Max’s family is scheduled to visit him in a couple of weeks, and Yuuki is making the trip, too.

“My son worries that she won’t remember him,” Erin Nimrichter said. “It gives me comfort knowing she does, and it’s nice to have proof to show him.”
