Former Superman Dean Cain has been officially sworn in as a reserve police officer with the St. Anthony Police Department in Idaho.

“Real heroes don’t wear capes. Real superheroes wear uniforms and badges and stethoscopes! Real superheroes are members of our military, law enforcement, and first responders,” the actor told members of the press at his Tuesday ceremony.

Cain’s position with the police department will be in a task force started by “CHiPs” actor — and fellow reserve officer — Erik Estrada two years ago, called “All About Kids.”

The initiative focuses on helpings kids and teens deal with issues like bullying.

In an interview with “Fox & Friends” after his swearing-in, Cain said part of his motivation for becoming a reserve police officer was to help bridge what he sees as a growing gap between communities and cops.

“Law enforcement is under a lot of attack right now. They’re getting a lot of heat in our country,” the actor said while wearing his new uniform. “[But] when you’re in trouble, who do you call? You call the police. It’s the first thing you do.”

He added, “Instead of going against the cops, I’m actually joining up.”
