“If I ran [for president], I would win,” Alec Baldwin recently told radio show host Howard Stern in an interview.

He added, “I would absolutely win. One thousand percent.”

The actor said two things are preventing him from actually running: his family and his job as the host of television’s “The Match Game.”

He still insisted, though, that he would win. “If I ran for president, I would win. Hands down, I would win. It would be the funniest, most exciting, most crazy campaign.”

Despite his confidence in a potential run, Baldwin said he hopes a good candidate emerges to campaign against Trump in the 2020 presidential election.

In the very same interview with Howard Stern, the actor also went on to suggest that Donald Trump’s meeting with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un was little more than a cover-up to fire special counsel Robert Mueller.

“It’ll be like [Stanley] Kubrick faked the moon landing,” Baldwin explained. “As soon as you have the appearance of that feather in his cap, they’re going to fire [special counsel Robert] Mueller. I think [Trump] needs something, a win, to obscure that he’s going to fire Mueller.”

Baldwin may be beloved by the mainstream media at the moment for his leftist views and his portrayal of the president on “Saturday Night Live.” But there is a lot that would keep people from voting for him should he ever decide to run for president. He has quite a controversial history filled with colorful insults and seemingly homophobic comments.

Plus, his portrayal of the president is one of the most divisive pieces of work in pop culture today. It’s difficult to imagine Baldwin ever managing to bring people together the way a presidential candidate needs to, of course.
