Keith Richards Declares America Must ‘Get Rid of Trump’ (Yawn)
Legendary Rolling Stones guitarist had a run-in with the president in the past; it's clear he's still holding a grudge
Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones is no fan of President Donald Trump.
In an interview with the BBC to promote an upcoming Stones tour, Richards warned that America needed to “get rid of Trump.” He went on to describe a previous run-in he’d had with the president, long before Trump won the White House.
As Richards tells it, Trump was promoting a 1989 Atlantic City concert on the “Steel Wheels” tour. Richards was angry when he saw the show billed as “Donald Trump Presents The Rolling Stones.”
“When we got to Atlantic City,” Richards said, “[the concert was advertised as] ‘Donald Trump Presents’ … The Rolling Stones [was written] in miniature.”
“We never have much to do with promoters usually, but this one got me,” the guitarist went on to say. “That was the last time I got angry — I pulled out my trusty blade, stuck it in the table and said, ‘You’ve got to get rid of this man.'”
He added, “Now America has to get rid of him. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
Well, thanks for adding that wisdom to the conversation, Mr. Richards.
