It’s common for Americans to turn to thoughts and prayers whenever someone is hospitalized. But that standard of decency is apparently lost on many people these days as first lady Melania Trump underwent surgery on Monday.

She received surgical treatment for a benign kidney condition at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and is expected to remain in the hospital for the rest of the week.

“This morning, first lady Melania Trump underwent an embolization procedure to treat a benign kidney condition,” her office reported in a statement.

“The procedure was successful and there were no complications. The first lady looks forward to a full recovery so she can continue her work on behalf of children everywhere,” the statement continued.

President Donald Trump spoke with the first lady prior to her surgical treatment, along with her doctor. The president is also expected to visit Mrs. Trump in the hospital, as reported by NBC News.

Meanwhile, the hospitalization of Mrs. Trump has become yet another opportunity for the Left to shower derisive comments on the president and first lady.

A small sample of the vitriol directed at the president and first lady is remarkable for its hateful and utterly dismissive tone.

The following comments were all posted on Twitter on Monday:

  • “Has she died yet?”
  • “Yeah, right, a nasty STD from Trump is more like it. We all know he cheats on her non-stop and doesn’t use protection. Oh well, lie down with dogs, you’re gonna get fleas — in this case STDs.”
  • “Does he want a Nobel for visiting his wife, or just loads of oozing admiration? I wonder if he’ll buy her a get well card. He’s probably too busy watching Fox News praise him …”
  • “I don’t think her misery is coming from her kidney.”

Time and time again, it appears there is nothing off-limits for left-wing political observers when it comes to hateful attacks on the president and first lady — not to mention their young son, Barron Trump.

They can’t even muster up a “Godspeed” for the full recovery of our country’s esteemed first lady — something we will take the time to wish her here.
