The president of the United States is celebrating the first lady’s 48th birthday today, April 26.

President Donald Trump phoned in to “Fox & Friends” on Fox News Thursday morning for an interview on a wide range of topics — and the first words he spoke were in appreciation of his wife, Melania.

“Well, good morning, and I picked a very, very special day because its Melania’s birthday — so I said, ‘Let’s do it [the interview] on Melania’s birthday,'” the president said. “Happy birthday to Melania.”

When asked if he’d gotten the first lady a gift, he replied with an answer many spouses can relate to: “Well, I’d better not get into that, because … I may get in trouble — maybe I didn’t get her so much. I got her a beautiful card — you know, I’m very busy, to be running out looking for presents,” he joked.

The president then shared that he had given Melanie a “beautiful” card and a gift of gorgeous flowers.

Trump also praised the first lady’s successful hosting of Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron, the first couple of France, this week at the White House for the first state dinner of the Trump presidency.

“She did a fantastic job with France, I’ll tell you what,” he said. “The people of France … were just spellbound by what happened with their great president, who just left … Emmanuel, he is a wonderful guy.”

Since becoming the nation’s first lady, Melania Trump has embraced the role wholeheartedly, spending a large majority of her time making our nation’s kids her focus, along with visiting military bases, children’s hospitals and schools. The opioid epidemic has also been an important topic for the first lady; she’s visited facilities that work with families affected by addiction.

Mrs. Trump also now has a wax doppelgänger. Former White House press secretary Sean Spicer was on hand at Madame Tussauds in New York City on Wednesday to participate in the unveiling of that museum’s newest addition: a wax figure of Melania Trump.

“She’s a very gracious and fashionable woman,” Spicer told NBC News, after sharing that he believes the figure is a good likeness of the first lady. “I don’t think the American people have fully appreciated the level of intellect she has and her political savviness.”

The Melania Trump wax figure is part of a feature at Tussauds called “Give Melania a Voice” — which will allow guests to publish tweets on behalf of Melania on the museum’s @MTMelaniaMoments Twitter page, beginning on Thursday and ending May 31, as NBC News reported.
