Politics predictably took center-stage at the 2018 Grammy Awards multiple times — and that didn’t exactly win people over.

According to early reports, ratings were down over 20 percent from last year, and this may be the worst-rated Grammy show ever.

Political moments from the show included an embarrassing Hillary Clinton cameo, and Kendrick Lamar’s endorsement of Trump critic Jay-Z for president.

What’s sad is that the stars who chose to get aggressive and preachy spoiled a night that could have been a truly special moment for the music industry.

There were some powerful and nonpolitical performances by such people as Lady Gaga, Elton John, Miley Cyrus, and Chris Stapleton, and there were folks like Bruno Mars, who chose to use the time behind the microphone to talk about how music can bring people together, rather than tear them apart.

“So I’m 15 years old and I’m opening up a show in Hawaii called ‘The Magic of Polynesia,'” said Mars after winning the Grammy Award for Album of the Year. “I’m in front of a curtain and I’m singing songs and my job in that show was to entertain abut 1,000 people, 1,000 tourists from all over the world.”

He continued, “And I would put together a set list, like 10 to 12 songs … and with those songs, I remember seeing it firsthand, seeing people dancing that had never met each other from two sides of the globe, dancing with each other, toasting with each other, celebrating together. All I wanted to do with this album was that.”

Instead of viewers talking about these wonderful moments, Hillary Clinton and preachy celebrities are on the tips of everyone’s tongues on Monday — because Hollywood chose to ruin yet another awards show with its tired and over-the-top politics and one-side-of-the-coin only views.
