Liberal ‘Talking Head’ Is Happy About GOP Train Wreck

A man named Jonathan Tasini has urged his followers on social media to thank female “God” for cleaning up the “stink” of the GOP following the deadly train wreck that occurred Wednesday morning. Sounds unbelievable — but it’s all too true.

The train — carrying more than 200 Republican members of Congress, their families, and their staff to a political retreat in West Virginia — collided with a garbage truck in Crozet, Virginia. At least one person was killed and several were injured. The trip originated in Washington, D.C.

While compassionate humans around the nation prayed for the safety of those involved in the accident, Tasini busied himself by encouraging his handful of Twitter followers to be thankful God was hard at work “cleaning up the stink” emitted by the elected officials he so openly loathes.

Though he deleted the tweet after countless folks lit into him on social media — many pointed out just how sick it was to express glee over the death and injury of others — too late. The damage was done.

The deleted tweet referenced both the train wreck and the announcement on Wednesday that Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) would be stepping away from Congress. Tasini’s cruel message read, “Wow, btwn train full of Goopers hitting truck and this, God is working hard today to clean up the stink. Thank her. #TreyGowdy #goptrainwreck.”

Apparently failing to learn from his experience, Tasini then doubled down, offering this revolting sentiment as well: “A trash truck has to humble itself and devalue its standards.” That was his response to a tweet by NBC News Capitol Hill producer Alex Moe — who tweeted a neutral and accurate report about the tragic accident.

Though Tasini bills himself as a “Bernie Sanders surrogate” and a “CNN talking head” in his Twitter bio, he quickly followed up his ugly tweet by noting that CNN doesn’t pay him, nor can it fire him. Tasini has written books about Sanders and apparently runs a podcast called Working Life.

People with a conscience, understandably, were quick to correct this writer’s offensive tweet and let him know just how they felt about it. Respondents were blunt — and appropriately so.

Tasini’s apology, which followed his deletion of the initial tweet, was nearly as jaw-droppingly sick as his original post. In his lackluster apology, he openly admitted he was speaking off the cuff. In other words — he was expressing his actual feelings on the matter without bothering to take the time to run it through a filter to check for political correctness.

The “apology” read: “Apologies people. It was poked out [amidst] convo w 2 colleagues on the deep racism/hypocrisy/criminality promoted by GOP or as GOPer Amanda Carpenter says, gaslighting of America. Deleting.”

So in a nutshell, what Tasini was actually trying to say was, “Don’t hold me accountable for my behavior. I was crazed with jealousy over my opponents’ political successes and very busy blowing smoke into my echo chamber with mistaken ideas about members of the GOP as hypocritical criminals. I’ll try to cover my tracks by deleting the tweet just in case, though, since — well, you know — some of you are actually calling me out on this.”

It’s pretty clear who the hypocrite is in this scenario. Here’s a hint: It’s the one who likens political foes to refuse, subtly denigrates Christians, can scarcely contain expressions of joy upon discovering some opponents may be dead or severely injured — and pretends to apologize when he gets busted for it.

No word on whether Tasini will be offering his condolences to the friends and family of the worker who lost his life today.
