A three-year-old makeup guru has been gaining quite a following on her Instagram account — but not all of the attention has been positive.

Liriana discovered her love of makeup early in life.

“She has always loved doing her makeup ever since she was about two years old,” her mom, Suella, told Yahoo Beauty.

“She loves to copy everything that I do,” Suella said. “Literally everything has to match with me: our outfits, makeup, hair! It’s so funny and she’s been this way since she was, like, one and a half.”

Suella said Liriana usually asks to put some music and “just starts to play” with the cosmetics.

To show off Liriana’s incredible makeup prowess, Suella said she started recording the tot doing “her own makeup from start to finish.”

“I started to record her doing her makeup for my family,” Suella told Yahoo Beauty. But when the mom shared a video of Liriana perfectly applying glittery eyeshadow, blush and swiping mascara across her lashes on social media, it quickly reached viral status with over 400,000 views.

Suella was initially excited by the attention her daughter’s passion was receiving.

“Especially when HudaBeauty reposted her video, and we were all so excited,” she said, “and then when I was reading some of the negative comments, I just wanted to explain myself, that nothing that they were saying was true!”

Many of the comments applauded the little girl’s abilities — makeup artist Huda Kattan said of the video, “OMG she’s such a cutie.”

Other supportive comments poured in, such as: “She does wayyyy better makeup than me.” And: “She’s gonna be a pro.”

However, Liriana’s pastime has stoked some outrage on Instagram because of her age.

“She just loves to play with it from time to time and I have no problem allowing her to do it.”

“Too young for this … poor kids … they don’t know what is real childhood,” one person wrote.

Another wrote, “Too young to be doing that. Toxic chemicals in that makeup that she’s rubbing directly into her eyes. Where the heck are her parents?!”

One particularly lengthy comment suggested a different hobby would be more age-appropriate, “[S]he is so young to be interested in makeup to this extent. She needs to have another interest like drawing, swimming, or playing piano to take her mind of[f] makeup. And when she becomes a teenager she can obsess about makeup. However, for now let her live her childhood because it will never come back. Please stop encouraging their parent to give them makeup and video-shoot.”

Suella has learned to brush off the negative comments, saying, “I’m not going to please everyone and I understand that, so I’ve learned to ignore them and appreciate the people supporting my daughter’s page.”

But she still wants those who criticize her to know “this is all for fun” for Liriana.

“My daughter does not wake up and put makeup on. She just loves to play with it from time to time and I have no problem allowing her to do it because we’ve all done it,” she said to Yahoo Beauty. “I don’t think any mother would bring that negativity to their child; this is all for fun.”

“It’s a little kid playing,” she continued.
