Amid the ongoing sexual assault scandal that’s been ripping Hollywood apart — not to mention the glaring lack of healthy relationships depicted in far too many films today — it can seem as if big-screen offerings have little or nothing to offer in the way of redeeming, meaningful or family-friendly entertainment.

Yet coming along on Jan. 19, 2018, is a story about the endurance of love through all sorts of tumult. “Forever My Girl,” based on the novel by Heidi McLaughlin, is a film about courtship, romance and love. As one reviewer of the novel wrote on Goodreads, “‘Forever My Girl’ is a sweet, loving, all-around adorable read.”

The film “tells the story of country music superstar Liam Page (Alex Roe) who left his bride, Josie (Jessica Rothe), at the altar, choosing fame and fortune instead. However, Liam never got over Josie, his one true love, nor did he ever forget his Southern roots in the small community where he was born and raised. When he unexpectedly returns to his hometown for the funeral of his high school best friend, Liam is suddenly faced with the consequences of all that he left behind,” reads a description of the movie.
