Sebastian Gorka, President Donald Trump’s former deputy assistant, said he left his White House post Friday because he decided he “can be far more effective for the president on the outside.” He made his remarks during an interview Saturday with Breitbart editor Matt Boyle on SiriusXM Patriot.

The Federalist first reported Friday that Gorka had left his post in the Trump administration and announced his blunt frustration in a fiery resignation letter about the direction the White House was headed. Lamenting that “forces that do not support the [Make America Great Again] promise are — for now — ascendant within the White House,” Gorka wrote that “the individuals who most embodied and represented the policies that will ‘Make America Great Again’ have been internally countered, systematically removed, or undermined in recent months.”

“I decided that, just as with Steve [Bannon], we can be far more effective for the president on the outside,” Gorka told Boyle, pointing to Trump’s recently ousted chief strategist, who represented the brand of conservative-populism on which Trump successfully campaigned in 2016. Bannon rejoined Breitbart last week.

“And it’s a very exciting day for me and my family and to start again supporting the ‘MAGA’ message as private citizens,” Gorka said.

The former White House deputy assistant noted he decided to resign shortly after Trump delivered his Tuesday speech on Afghanistan in which he introduced a foreign policy that would deploy more troops in Afghanistan while exhibiting a dramatic reversal from the non-interventionism on which he ran.

“The president of the United States ran a campaign on a very simple platform … He said, ‘I’m going to fix the economy, build the wall and defeat ISIS,'” Gorka told Boyle. “That’s MAGA. That’s what Making America Great Again really means.”

“And I realized after the president’s speech this week on Afghanistan that he’s not being well-served,” Gorka added. “That speech was written by people for the president in direct contravention of everything we voted for on November the 8th.”

Gorka also took issue with how Trump’s Afghanistan speech failed to mention either “radical Islam” or “radical Islamic terrorism.”

As a result, Gorka said that he contacted White House Chief of Staff John Kelly and notified him of his impending resignation. Gorka also requested to come to the White House Monday to deliver his resignation in person, but Kelly reportedly declined his offer.

Now that he has rejoined the private sector, the former White House deputy assistant said that he will work on “breaking the back of the fake conservatives and destroying the left wing’s attempted monopoly of what it means to be America today.”

“The fake news industrial complex is what we face today as Americans who believe in the founding principles of this nation,” Gorka told Boyle. “The Left thinks they’re winning. They have no idea what’s coming around the corner. And it’s going to be fun, Matt … And America will be great again with President Trump, with the people at Breitbart, and with the MAGA base.”

All throughout his time serving in the White House, Gorka faced the unmitigated wrath of the Left-driven mainstream media for his strict stances on national security issues and his proposals for how to squelch the threat radical Islamic terrorism poses. In addition, many of his critics also labeled him a neo-Nazi and a racist for his immigration enforcement views.

Although Gorka expressed his frustration with the direction in which the White House is heading, he maintained that Trump and the wave of conservative populism he helped usher into the U.S. “will defeat” the radical Left “in the realm of ideas” in the end.

“I laugh in their faces. I mean, really, Matt, you know if The Huffington Post, if Slate, if Buzzfeed, if The New York Times, if CNN, if The Washington Post wrote anything nice about me, every single Trump voter should ask for their money back,” Gorka added. “You’re only taking flak when you’re on the target. The fact is, that’s the bottom line, Matt, and I’m proud and I wear it as a badge of honor.”
