Chris Pratt addressed the Teen Choice Awards on Sunday night in his first appearance in public after announcing his split from actress Anna Farris.

The couple had been married for eight years. They have a five-year-old son together. Fans have been grieving the end of the couple’s marriage all during the past week — but Pratt and Farris have requested privacy during the difficult time.

On Sunday night, Pratt received the Choice Movie Actor: Sci-Fi Award, and said it was an “honor and privilege.”

Then he turned his gratitude to a higher power.

“I would not be here with the ease and grace I have in my heart without my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,” Pratt said to cheers from the audience.
