Mark Cuban: Cohn Leading ‘Democratic Invasion of the White House’

Billionaire investor claims 'America first' agenda at risk as establishment rises

Billionaire investor and Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban suspects President Donald Trump’s chief economic adviser, Gary Cohn, is leading an internal “Democratic invasion of the White House,” according to a report Tuesday from Fox Business Network Senior Correspondent Charlie Gasparino.

Cohn, the director of the National Economic Council, remains a registered Democrat and was formerly president of Wall Street mega-giant Goldman Sachs. Numerous reports suggest Cohn, who favors a globalist, establishment platform, has won expanded influence in the White House at the expense of chief strategist and leading populist voice Stephen Bannon.

“We’re seeing a much more centrist Donald Trump. We’re seeing a Donald Trump that does not believe in tax cuts.”

Gasparino suggested Trump may have delayed action on tax cuts due to Cohn’s expanded influence.

“There’s a thought out there, not just from conservatives, but from some liberals, is [sic] that he went for [tax reform] first instead of tax cuts because there’s a Democratic takeover of the Trump administration,” Gasparino said.

Gasparino said Cuban, a prominent Democrat who engaged in several highly publicized spats with Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign, told his producer Democrats and centrists are rising in the White House.

“[Cuban] said that Gary Cohn … Trump’s main economic advisor, who is responsible for a lot of this, is leading a ‘Democratic invasion of the White House,'” Gasparino reported. “[Cuban] told us, that based on his calculations, he’s been looking at the non-military leadership of the Trump White House, the top people.”

“There’s about 50 percent of them that are Democrats, and he starts naming them: Ivanka Trump, Jared Kushner, Gary Cohn, Steve Mnuchin. We can go on and on and on,” Gasparino continued. “For every Steve Bannon, who has been downgraded as we know, there’s plenty more Democrats and centrists that are part of this administration who don’t believe in supply-side economics.”

Cuban warned, according to Gasparino, that Bannon’s seemingly reduced influence, the rise of Kushner — Trump’s son-in-law — and the sheer number of political establishment figures populating Trump’s White House could jeopardize his “America first” agenda.

“So what we’re seeing here is … that the Democrats are applauding these moves,” Gasparino noted. “We’re seeing a much more centrist Donald Trump. We’re seeing a Donald Trump that does not believe in tax cuts.”
