If you were to actually listen to celebrities, you’d think the sky is falling.

In the minds of many elite actors, musicians, and others “stars,” each passing day in the age of President Donald Trump is another step closer to Doomsday. Meanwhile, most of these privileged celebs sit in expensive houses or tweet from elaborate movie sets or studios, where they live out their American dream as the one percent tend to do — making more money than the average American can ever imagine.

Celebs jumped on Twitter on Tuesday to continue their “end is nigh!” mantra over the confirmation of Betsy DeVos as head of the Department of Education.

“Avengers” director Joss Whedon — who previously joked about the death of House Speaker Paul Ryan and referred to Ivanka Trump as a dog — said the confirmation of DeVos was the equivalent of war being declared on children.

“Rejecting DeVos was the GOP’s easiest way to say ‘Mr Prez, let’s take this slow, we got 4 yrs.’ Instead they declared war on our children,” the filmmaker tweeted.

Why might he think “war” is the right term? DeVos is for school choice, which scares many on the Left because it threatens a union-built, government-controlled education system that often fails children.

Come to think of it — maybe “war” actually was the right term — except, instead of “children,” Whedon maybe should have said “unions.”

Michael Moore, whose career has gotten a second wind thanks to his hysteria over President Trump, tweeted crudely, “The Senate Republicans have just sent a big [expletive] to the school children of America. Even the worst countries don’t sh** on their own kids.”

Comedian Rosie O’Donnell also tweeted, “FOR GODS SAKE [sic] keep Betsy DeVos away from public schools.”

Anyone for school choice, of course, is a threat to the monopoly of public schools — many of which have been failing children in their education and pushing unprepared kids out into the world.

Other celebrities to voice opposition to the confirmation included musician Josh Groban, “Family Guy” creator Seth MacFarlane, and “Star Trek” actor George Takei.

The fact that DeVos — who has received vocal support even from many on the Right who are not typically supportive of President Trump or some of his policies — is ruffling the feathers of so many who praised the Establishment, elitist-friendly President Obama for eight years is probably a good thing. Change always ruffles a few feathers.

And the fact that President Trump cannot fill positions in his administration without celebrities spreading divisive rhetoric and acting as though the country is on the brink of collapse is not a good sign for pop culture in the coming years. However, just as voters tuned out many of these preachy, head-in-the-clouds celebrities when they were stumping for Hillary Clinton — they are surely doing the same thing now.
