Millions of Americans are welcoming President Donald Trump’s nomination of the highly qualified Neil Gorsuch to be the next Supreme Court justice. But celebrities and pop culture influencers jumped at the opportunity to prove once again how deeply out of step they are with the American people.

Comedian and actor Billy Eichner (“Parks and Recreation,” “Difficult People”) tweeted in response to Trump’s Tuesday night announcement: “No matter who you choose we will NOT forget about your #MuslimBan & we still DEMAND to see what ur HIDING in your taxes.”

Late-night host Chelsea Handler said through Twitter: “Like all arch conservatives, I assume Gorsuch will be celebrating tonight on Grindr.”

Mostly, celebrities simply waved their Obama loyalist flags and appeared ready to disapprove of absolutely anyone Trump would have picked. Late-night host Stephen Colbert tweeted: “Trump has selected Judge Neil Gorsuch for his Supreme Court nominee. He celebrated by eating Merrick Garland’s heart.”

Merrick Garland was former President Obama’s unsuccessful nominee for the Supreme Court.

Hillary Clinton supporter and actress Debra Messing tweeted: “We should no longer call this #SupremeCourt seat the ‘Scalia seat.’ Call it the Garland seat — wrongly denied him due to GOP obstruction.”

Filmmaker Michael Moore predictably pretended to represent the common man and woman when he tweeted (or threatened — take your pick): “Senate Dems, let’s be very clear: You will filibuster & block this SC nom or we will find a true progressive and primary u in next election.”

Moore also said, “This Supreme Court pick was Obama’s to make and it was stolen by Republicans. Democrats had better block this and demand a nom we approve.”

Comedian, actress, and full-time Trump critic Rosie O’Donnell responded to a tweet by saying: “If you cooperate with either President Trump or the GOP in making Justice Neil Gorsuch a reality, you will be primaried.” She replied with, “Send it out to every Democrat in office.”

Liberal celebrities have shown an aggressive pettiness since the election of Trump. They have also shown an intense desire to live in the past. Merrick Garland is old news; Barack Obama is no longer president. There is a new administration, and Americans must find ways to work with it in a healthy and productive manner.

To criticize Gorsuch is one thing; but to openly oppose even the idea of his sitting on the Supreme Court simply because someone doesn’t like Trump or feels as if it’s time for the Left to score political points is downright loony.

By most accounts, Gorsuch is about the most bipartisan pick for the Supreme Court that President Trump could have made. Celebrities who stumped endlessly for Hillary Clinton will never admit that. Most will never stop yelling or protesting enough to help our polarized country move forward. People like Michael Moore want the polarization to continue. After all, polarization is good for his business.

In fact, for a perfect example of how extreme celebrities are getting in terms of their Trump hate, look no further than their reaction to Trump’s decision to keep LGBTQ anti-discrimination workplace laws put in place by Obama. “The president is proud to have been the first-ever GOP nominee to mention the LGBTQ community in his nomination acceptance speech, pledging then to protect the community from violence and oppression,” read a statement from the White House to The New York Times.

And what did “liberal” celebrities say about the move? Nothing. Nada. Crickets. They were as quiet as when Obama put a temporary refugee ban in place during his time in the White House.
