Celebrities crow and whine about fake news and call the president a liar constantly, but there’s no news more fake than what comes out of Tinseltown.

Just look at the celebrity rags lining grocery store lines that exclaim the status of various Hollywood relationships or actors and actresses being attached to projects that never happen – or simply don’t exist.

Stories to come out of Hollywood centric or Hollywood based news outlets are mostly based on rumors, anonymous sources or unsubstantiated information.

Reports to come out of Hollywood centric or Hollywood based news outlets are typically based on rumors, anonymous sources or unsubstantiated information. Lies flow as easily from the entertainment media as outlets like CNN. It’s just another example of how the media has cozied itself into a position where they can get away with just about anything.

Just like many mainstream media outlets covering politics, the entertainment media should begin reevaluating their reporting. Here’s a look at some of the biggest recent fake news stories to come out of Hollywood.

Stephen King to write second season of Netflix hit “Stranger Things.” No truth here. Not even a sliver. Brothers Matt and Ross Duffer, creators of the “Stranger Things” phenomenon, were reportedly working on getting horror writer Stephen King to helm an episode of their series. Of course, none of this could be further from the truth. “Things” actor David Harbour confirmed as much to TMZ last month when asked about King’s involvement. “That’s absolutely not true,” he said. But that didn’t stop plenty of outlets, TheStudioExec.com chief among them, from reporting otherwise.

“Deadpool” cameo in upcoming film “Logan.” Admittedly, this one would get fans excited everywhere, but the guys who play these characters — Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman — can’t seem to keep up with squashing this persistent rumor. Moviefone and MoviePilot both seem to think it still may happen based on their reporting.

After The Wrap reported there would be a Deadpool cameo in “Logan” and then defended its story from detractors, director James Mangold responded on Twitter with, “Keep backtracking..”

Reynolds also said on Twitter in response to fans bothering him with showbiz reports about a Deadpool cameo: “Sadly, not true. Prisoner 24601 is on a solo mission.”

Ben Affleck and Matt Reeves are ditching “The Batman.” These were the biggest fake news stories to be pushed by the entertainment media in a long while. Many outlets, including comicbook.com and Complex, spread rumors that Ben Affleck was leaving his role as the caped crusader, despite having just played the character in box office hits like “Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice” and “Suicide Squad.” Various outlets reported that the actor was leaving the next solo outing of his character, “The Batman.” Director Matt Reeves – who was in talks with Warner Bros. to helm “Batman” – was also leaving the projects and had ceased talks with the studio, according to reports from Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, and many others.

But just this weekend, Reeves released a statement with Warner Bros.’ blessing. According to Newsweek, it read: “I have loved the ‘Batman’ story since I was a child. He is such an iconic and compelling character, and one that resonates with me deeply. I am incredibly honored and excited to be working with Warner Bros. to bring an epic and emotional new take on the caped crusader to the big screen.” After all those rumors and unconfirmed reports, it turns out Affleck is going nowhere and Reeves is excited to do exactly what everyone was saying he wasn’t going to do: direct.
