Raising a family and dropping a new album — just another day in the life of Grammy-nominated artist Britt Nicole.

The pop singer, 32, released her fourth album, “Britt Nicole,” this past September, and despite her huge success over the years, she stays true to herself and lives out her Christian faith.

“My ultimate goal in making music is to see broken people’s hearts healed and see people inspired to go out and live their dream.”

“Faith is the most important thing in my life and I would never shy away from writing what God has done for me in my life,” Nicole told LifeZette.

“When I moved to Nashville at 19, I always wanted to write worship songs, but when I would sit down to write I would often write these pop songs. I really felt like God just had a different path for me and my music.”

Though her current albums fall into the pop genre, “faith is such a big part of my life,” she said. “I will always sing about Jesus.” No matter what genre she writes in, she keeps writing hits and has never lost sight of what’s important in life; she lives for others.

“I write my heart. When I sit down to write, I honestly never think, ‘I want to write a Christian song or a pop song,'” Nicole explained. “I just sit down and think, ‘God, help me to write my heart and help it to be honest and real and something people can relate to and something that helps people.’”

“My ultimate goal in making music is to see broken people’s hearts healed and see people inspired to go out and live their dream,” she added.

But Nicole is also a wife and mother. Originally from Kannapolis, North Carolina, she married Joshua Crosby in 2012 and the couple has two children: Ella (age 3) and Adin (age 1).

“I love being with my kids and it’s definitely had its moment, being a working mom,” she explained. “I really, really struggled — it [working away from the kids] was probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever walked through. I really did not want to be without [them].”

“As a mom, you want to be there from morning until night,” Nicole added. “That love that you can’t explain and there’s no other love like it — I never knew I would struggle with some of the things, like becoming a new mom and working, but God has just been so gracious to help me walk through it.”

Nicole’s career is a bit of a family affair — her husband produced her last album. “My husband and I are blessed to work together as well, but that can also be another area of figuring things out,” she said.

With two kids and a busy schedule on the road, she said she works hard to keep an intentional focus on her marriage.

“Communication — it’s a simple answer that a lot of people give, but I know for us it’s key,” she said. “We get busy on the road, so just stopping to [talk] and taking time for each other and investing in our marriage” — that is what’s important, she said.

“These are the things that keep a marriage alive — taking a date night when you can, taking a trip when you can. But on a regular basis, just communicating about what’s going on in your heart,” she said.

Nicole puts faith at the center of her marriage as well, keeping God at the center.

“Women — we like to talk a little too much sometimes. Sometimes I just need to be quiet. I just need to take it to God and I just pray about some things, and I don’t need to talk through every detail. But I think when you can, and when you feel peace about it, communicating about your heart is really important,” Nicole said.
