Nonsense and hypocrisy — this just keeps flowing nonstop out of the liberal elites of Hollywood. And with Donald Trump now sworn in as the 45th president of the United States, the situation isn’t getting any better any time soon.

These are the folks who influence our pop culture, after all — yet they aren’t the only ones with voices. Welcome to LifeZette’s seventh week of Hollywood Ridiculousness.

These are the folks who influence our pop culture, yet they aren’t the only ones with voices.

Comedian and actress Chelsea Handler recently said she was going to leave the Democratic Party to be an independent. She expressed a willingness to reach across party lines in the wake of Donald Trump’s election. Unfortunately, after saying she was most concerned with racism under Trump’s presidency, she then said she would never interview first lady Melania Trump because “she [Melania] can barely speak English.”

One might think Handler would have done the right thing and apologized for that terrible statement about the president’s wife. But, no. Instead, Handler doubled down in a rude tweet: “Blink if you need help, Melania Trump,” Handler tweeted this week.

Handler has now even seemingly condoned the bullying of Melania’s son, Barron. After a “Saturday Night Live” writer was suspended from the show for joking during the inauguration that Barron Trump would be the country’s first “homeschool shooter,” Handler came to the writer’s defense — tweeting on Tuesday, “It’s interesting that a writer on ‘SNL’ is held to a higher standard of language than the man we elected @POTUS @katiemaryrich#stupid.”

No matter Handler’s opinion of Donald Trump, nothing excuses the bullying of a child, which is exactly what writer Katie Rich did. If someone else had made that joke, it would have been considered cyberbullying. The fact that she is paid to tell jokes makes no difference. A child was bullied by an adult because said adult didn’t like the child’s father. Ridiculous.

Handler seems to see no problem with the situation, though. And why would she? After attending a women’s march that was supposed to be about unity and love, she attacked a fellow female in the public eye for not being able to speak English well — yet Melania Trump is actually fluent in multiple languages.

Director Joss Whedon has gone from being the force behind blockbuster films like “The Avengers” to a liberal Twitter troll. After having already sunk to a new low when he said the death of Speaker of the House Paul Ryan would be “funny” — he also described the vulgar fantasy death — Whedon took to insulting President Donald Trump’s daughter, Ivanka, and her husband, Jared Kushner.

Whedon tweeted a picture of Kushner and said, “Hey, keep your eyes on this f***ing prize too. He’s a Voldemort in training, & unlike the Pekingese he married under, can play the long game.”

Who do you think would win the Presidency?

Is this really the level of discourse liberal public figures wish to trade in? Fantasizing about the deaths of politicians they don’t like and comparing a woman to a dog? Whedon had previously attended one of the women’s marches. Comparing Ivanka Trump to a dog makes him a misogynist. Period.

Not everyone was supportive of Whedon’s words. He seemed to lose a few fans because of his comments. “Just so we’re on the same page here. You just called Ivanka a dog because you don’t agree with Trump. Classy,” tweeted one person.

“Joss, what happened to you? What caused you to become so hateful?” tweeted another.

Actor Michael Shannon, nominated for an Oscar in the Best Supporting Actor category for “Nocturnal Animals,” couldn’t help but make a veiled political statement in his acceptance statement. The actor had previously called Trump voters “racists” and “sexists.” He had also suggested it was “time for the urn” for older Trump voters — and he called for a “civil war.”

In his acceptance statement, Shannon clearly still had Trump on the brain. “I am thrilled! Loved making this film. I would work with Tom Ford anytime, anywhere. Jake Gyllenhaal and Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Karl Glusman made it easy for me. Nice to get some good news in the midst of all the carnage, so to speak.”

The “carnage” bit is one being used by many liberals, most notably Michael Moore, when he said in his speech at a women’s march that he would end the “Trump carnage.”

And now, after all that, to end things on a positive note …

Boy George defended first lady Melania Trump against those who criticize her past modeling career or who refuse to design clothes for her because of political disagreements with her husband.

“I was criticizing people this morning for attacking Melania and saying horrible things,” the Grammy-nominated artist told The Hollywood Reporter on Saturday at the Dior Homme show. “You know what? As somebody who has a past, I think it’s really wrong and mean-spirited of women to be so abusive.”

Boy George, who is not a Trump supporter, is able to put aside his politics in judging the first family. That is something many other people need to learn.
