The Boy Scouts of America was founded in 1910, and for over 100 years, it has been an organization where boys have learned how to become men. With its decision Monday to allow transgender boys into its ranks, the organization has changed that simple mission.

No longer will admission into the program depend on a child’s birth certificate or biological sex. The BSA will now accept anyone purely based on how this young person or his parents decide to identify the individual. A century of tradition is now gone thanks to leftist ideology. These days, it seems as if hundreds of years of tradition and culture are being erased by about 30 years of extreme liberal social engineering.

Why is it that liberal and leftist organizations feel everyone is entitled to belong to everything?

To be sure, there are some things in our culture that have absolutely needed changing — traditionalists are not afraid of appropriate societal change. We needed to separate religion from government. We had to wipe out slavery. We can all agree there are other “old-fashioned” traditions that needed to be eliminated or changed. I do not believe, however, that destroying the masculinity of men was one of those things.

Parents of transgender children could also have helped them learn how to start their own organization. After all, the Girl Scouts’ first troop meeting consisted of only 18 girls in Savannah, Georgia. The Boy Scouts’ first meeting consisted of only 21 boys.

Why must the Left insist on tearing things down rather than building up other things? They have been attacking the Boy Scouts for quite some time. The first lawsuit by a girl who was rejected from the Boy Scouts because she was a female was filed in 1995. In 2012, The Huffington Post listed a report that named all donors to the Boy Scouts. It attacked them for supporting an organization that does not allow homosexuals in its ranks, or its leadership. Many of these sponsors yielded to the pressure and stopped donating to the BSA.

In response, the scouting organization made a “Clinton-esque” move similar to the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy. It instructed its leaders and members to not have any discussions of sexual orientation at all. It removed itself from scrutiny by placing the decisions upon the local troops or districts. These decisions prompted many churches to withdraw support from the BSA. It also prompted many to withdraw from scouting.

As those involved in scouting know, youth protection is one of the key issues of scouting today. All leaders must be certified in Youth Protection Training. We have seen many lawsuits against the scouts because of violations. Now that the liberals are victorious in their efforts, what effect will this have? Where there was once a separation of leaders from boys during camping trips and outings, there now must be the consideration of separating some boys from other boys. It’s almost an impossible situation to keep everyone safe and placated.

If someone with female genitals who identifies as a boy is separated from the other boys, is that not a lawsuit waiting to happen? But if you keep that same self-identified male with female genitalia in the same location as the boys, does that not violate the privacy of the actual boys?

Like it or not, we are all different. Our differences make our country stronger. Forcing everyone to be equal solely for the purposes of liberal idealism is not the way to unite. It creates a false of unity with bad foundations.

Sex is something that nature determines before we are born.

We should be celebrating our differences, not attacking them. We should celebrate boys becoming men. We should celebrate girls becoming women. These two ideals should not be confused with saying one is better than the other.

It is the Left that pushes environmentalism and nature. Sex is something that nature determines before we are born. For a movement that focuses on acceptance, it seems the Left’s Achilles’ heel is accepting that some people are just different — and will always be that way.

Forcing the differences together is a rejection of nature.
