Fathers have many responsibilities. Raising children the right way, giving them every avenue to success possible, working hard and setting the right example, and leading them into a world that we hope is better than the one we grew up in — all of this is part of being a dad.

After the last eight years under Barack Obama, that last goal — a better world than we’ve had — is becoming increasingly difficult for parents. It is apparent that the course that we have gone down as a country is to the benefit of no one. It’s clear that if Hillary Clinton is elected, things will only get worse.

During the presidency of her husband, Bill Clinton, Hillary pushed to make universal health care a reality, which would have given the government unfettered access to the personal details of our lives and crafted yet another cumbersome government program. Fast-forward nearly 20 years, and President Obama, along with a willing Democrat party, pushed Obamacare onto the American people.

As more and more health care exchanges go bust and families find even the most basic health care costs spiraling out of control, it is painfully obvious that his plan is a failure. A Hillary Clinton presidency would push us further into the red, as she has promised to uphold and essentially double down on this disastrous plan. Donald Trump has pledged to repeal and replace Obamacare.

As the country moves further toward the idea that abortion is wrong in every way, Clinton will use the cause of “fighting for women’s rights” to leave things as they are. The fact that this woman — a mother and a grandmother — would not protect the most vulnerable, the unborn, is unfathomable. Trump would work to protect these lives.

It is unacceptable that a candidate for the highest office in the land does not respect those who protect us.

Trump would also work to protect law and order and, by proxy, our police officers, who are maligned by the Black Lives Matter movement and under constant threat for doing their jobs. Families around the country who have law enforcement personnel within their circles have to wonder if their mom or dad or brother or sister or aunt or uncle will come home that evening. Clinton is perfectly OK with this scenario, apparently, as she doesn’t see police as a group of people but rather some “uniforms” against part of her voting bloc.

It is unacceptable that a candidate for the highest office in the land does not respect and value those who protect us.

When I tuck my two children in at night, I am reminded of when my father did the same with me. He wanted the best for us and worked to make that happen. As the economy boomed between two bubbles, we were able to see progress.

However, the greed of career politicians such as Hillary Clinton led the country down a path that my dad and many others believe is far from optimal for my generation and the one after ours. Whether it’s unmanageable, untenable government programs driven into the red, or educations for sale, or politician-controlled social movements — we have been left behind.

We cannot continue down this path. While we may have gotten a raw deal, our children do not have to and shouldn’t have to. This election, more than anything else, is about acknowledging what we have allowed to happen and fixing it. Putting in a career politician who would take us further down the path that we are already on is not welcome to any family who wants to move forward.

There is only one choice to stem the tide and put us on the path to tucking our children in and knowing they will be better than off than we are right now. That choice, Donald Trump, needs to become our reality tomorrow.
