2015: The Year of Surprises

The unexpected transformed the conversations and landscape of a critical year for the nation

The Year of Trump and the Outsiders, the year Hillary felt the Bern, and the end of Charlie Sheen’s winning: 2015 was a year dominated by a flurry of big surprises.

The roller coaster ride of the past year was made all the more interesting since some predicted a rehash of years past. The political landscape was supposed to see the second act of a Bush vs. Clinton dynastic showdown, plus “Jurassic Park,” “James Bond” and “Star Wars” were all back for another predictable turn.

But while a Clinton still looks set to win her party’s nomination, those movies turned out not to be retreads — and the year just kept piling on a whole bunch of surprises. Remember these?
