The Israeli military Wednesday deployed 300 soldiers into and around Jerusalem, where a wave of deadly Palestinian attacks have left a slew of Israelis dead.

In a late night meeting, the Israeli cabinet also decided to let police seal off points of friction. Most of the attackers were from Arab areas of Jerusalem, so some of those neighborhoods will be sealed off. Israeli forces also plan to placed makeshift checkpoints in Palestinian neighborhoods in Jerusalem to monitor traffic leaving the areas.

On Wednesday, yet another attack occurred when Israeli police shot and killed an Arab man after he pulled out a knife and attempted to stab them. His identity was not immediately known.

In recent weeks, eight Israelis have died in a string of stabbings and shootings. Meanwhile, 30 Palestinians have been killed, 13 identified by Israel as attackers.
