When Pope Francis lands Tuesday in Washington, D.C., he will be shuttled around in his modified Jeep Wrangler popemobile.

Since 1930, when the Vatican received the first popemobile as a gift from Mercedes-Benz, the famous vehicle has gone through quite the transition. While most of the vehicles have been almost exclusively modified Mercedes, there have also been Lincolns, Fiats, Jeeps, and even a bus!
