President Barack Obama’s greatest domestic achievement has been to lump a sprawling new government program atop already inefficient and wasteful social welfare behemoths.

And so it follows that Obamacare is already showing early, promising signs of becoming — like its predecessors beneath it — a breeding ground for waste, fraud and abuse.

In last week’s GOP debate, Mike Huckabee said, “Ronald Reagan said ‘trust, but verify.’ President Obama is ‘trust, but vilify.’ He trusts our enemies and vilifies everyone who disagrees with him.” On Obamacare, Obama is trusting the enemies of taxpayers while vilifying conservatives.

Obamacare is riddled with security flaws, leaving the enrollment door wide open to illegal immigrants and other fraudsters, according to a Health and Human Services Inspector General report. What’s worse, investigators found that even when these verification errors surfaced, they were ignored or the response was botched.

This administration asks for our trust in Obamacare, yet we have no assurances they will verify citizenship, Social Security numbers, household income and other basic indicators for enrollees. And because conservatives are skeptical of Obamacare, they are the supposed villains in this whole process. They are vilified as heartless cads simply for wanting to save the public purse from waste and abuse.

Instead of enriching people who flout the immigration system and extort taxpayers, conservatives believe in sovereignty and helping our most vulnerable citizens. But through systemic-enabled fraud, this means public money is shifted away from needy citizens into the pockets of thieves.

Medicare fraud is already an enormous burden on American taxpayers: Fraud accounted for an eye-popping $58 billion in fiscal 2013, about 10 percent of Medicare’s yearly $600 billion spending, the Wall Street Journal reported. Think about that: Medicare fraud alone in this country is more than the entire state budgets of Massachusetts and Georgia combined.

Given such rampant abuse already in our health care system, how does Team Obama think that more government intrusion will improve the situation? Instead, it will provide a new avenue for empowering and enriching villains at the hands of the American taxpayer.

Conservatives rightly believe that private enterprise is most effective at running marketplaces — thousands of years of human history reveal that. So this latest report is no surprise. Why should we marvel that a creaky, sprawling bureaucracy cannot communicate effectively within its branches? Obama’s team had years to develop a website that worked, yet this latest revelation is further evidence that when government’s heavy hand masquerades as the invisible hand, failure ensues.

What’s terrifying is that would-be Obama successor Hillary Clinton fits Obama’s anti-technology mold. She has angered Silicon Valley by attacking economic innovators such as  Uber, Airbnb and Instacart. Can we expect a Hillarycare website to be any better than Obamacare? Of course not.

Trust in government has plummeted in recent years, according to Gallup, hitting its lowest point under Obama since that polling institution began tracking this in 1972. Rather than working with congressional Republicans, Obama demonizes them, as he did while passing Obamacare in 2010.

He trusts the principles of redistribution, which history tells us are the true villains.
