The speech that Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle Devon Still gave last night at the ESPY Awards is having a big impact, bigger than anything Caitlin Jenner could have hoped to achieve at the event.

When Still starting sharing his heartfelt thoughts about his daughter Leah’s battle with cancer, the room went silent. Why? Because he took us back to basics. He reminded us of what matters. He talked about family and faith and hope and love. He took us away from the celebrity frou-frou and fuss in our culture and got back to bedrock values. He touched us.

“For every child out there that’s battling cancer … y’all are the real heroes,” Devon said. “Y’all never give up.” Watch this clip from his moving speech about his five-year-old girl and his hopes and dreams for her and his family and their future.
