Liberal political commentator Bill Maher is taking credit for the downfall of former Breitbart editor Milo Yiannopoulos after he appeared to Maher’s TV show and it was discovered Yiannopoulos had historically made comments defending pedophilia.

In 1998, however, Maher reported on the story of Mary Kay Letourneau. Letourneau is the Seattle schoolteacher convicted of having sex with a 12-year-old student. On his show “Politically Incorrect,” Maher shockingly took the teacher’s side.

“She is in jail because she is in love. That’s how I view it,” said Maher.

Letourneau became pregnant by her student, and while Maher acknowledged the relationship was “unorthodox,” he said “basically, they’re having a family and they’re keeping the mother in jail because she won’t conform to what society feels should be the perfect American family.”
