While college kids are hogging the spotlight for all sorts of reasons right now, including their demands for a tuition-free education and a $15 minimum wage for campus workers, one U.S. Marine, veteran James Erickson, has put it all in perspective. He responded to the popular Twitter hashtag #millionstudentmarch last night by noting that he, too, has marched: in the service of the American public as a member of the U.S. armed forces.

He wrote: “I wanted money for school, so I marched too… This one was about 25 miles…

“Thank you for freedom,” responded “NortheastPatriot” to Erickson on Twitter.

“Thank you, sir, for your sacrifice,” said “WestTexasDust.”

Erickson, a husband, dad, entrepreneur, and soccer coach on the West Coast, also noted on Twitter, “Someone has clearly taught them the wrong meaning of Free Market System.”
