House Speaker Paul Ryan is reportedly endorsing Donald Trump after months of a standoff with the presumptive Republican nominee, senior-level Trump campaign sources told ABC News Wednesday.

Trump aide Paul Manafort told Republicans on Capitol Hill that Ryan could announce the endorsement as early as this week, though Ryan’s aides say the Trump endorsement is not quite cemented, reported The Hill.

“There’s no update and we’ve not told the Trump campaign to expect an endorsement,” said a Ryan spokesman.

Throughout the primary elections, Ryan, the 2012 vice presidential nominee, vocalized a degree of skepticism towards the billionaire businessman. He often criticized Trump’s tone, disagreed with several of Trump’s proposals such as temporarily banning Muslim immigration in the U.S., and condemned the violence at Trump rallies.

Ryan met with Trump and Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus in Washington, D.C. earlier this month in an effort to inspire unity within the Republican party. After the meeting, Ryan and Trump issued a joint statement calling for the GOP to do everything they can “to win this fall,” though Ryan continued to waver on the prospect of giving the real estate mogul a full-throttle endorsement.

Ryan is scheduled for a briefing on the House Republican agenda Wednesday afternoon in Washington, D.C., according to The Hill.
