Last week, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio tried to discourage New Yorkers from eating at Chick-fil-A, calling the Southern chicken chain “anti-LGBT.”

“Chick-fil-A is anti-LGBT. This group imparts a strong anti-LGBT message by forcing their employees and volunteers to adhere to a policy that prohibits same-sex love. It is outrageous that Chick-fil-A is quietly spreading its message of hate by funding these types of organizations,” said de Blasio.

The popular fast-food chain, though known for its public embrace of Christian values, said in a statement that “the Chick-fil-A culture and service tradition in our restaurants is to treat every person with honor, dignity, and respect — regardless of their beliefs, race, creed, sexual orientation, or gender.”

The liberal mayor pressed New Yorkers to boycott the eatery.

“I’m certainly not going to patronize them and I wouldn’t urge any other New Yorker to patronize them. But they do have a legal right,” said de Blasio.

But many New Yorkers continue to flock to Chick-fil-A.

“The two midtown Manhattan locations are doing big business … ” reported Fox News Insider. “In fact, the chain is doing so well in the Big Apple that 12 new locations are expected to pop up around the city over the next year.”

Chick-fil-A is outperforming McDonald’s, Burger King, Wendy’s, and Subway, with average annual sales per store of $3.15 million, According to the New York Post.
