A 17-year-old Afghan male — a refugee — lunged at innocent passengers on a German train on Monday with an ax. ISIS has already claimed this individual as one of its “fighters.”

The refugee yelled “Allahu Akbar” (“God is greatest”) as he wielded his axe on a train bound for Wurzberg, near Munich. One witness described the railway station as resembling “a slaughterhouse” afterward, with blood smeared on the floor. The attacker apparently had other weapons on him.

A hand-drawn ISIS flag was found near the individual’s room early on Tuesday, an article in The Telegraph noted.

As the attacker attempted to flee the train station scene, police shot him dead.

The vicious attack was the latest terror attack to hit Europe after 84 people were killed in Nice, France, last Thursday by an armed man driving a truck.

“The perpetrator of the stabbing attack in Germany was one of the fighters of the Islamic State and carried out the operation in answer to the calls to target the countries of the coalition fighting the Islamic State,” said a statement from the radical Islamic terror group.

Three people were apparently seriously injured, 14 others were in shock, and another person suffered minor injuries.

“The perpetrator was able to leave the train, police left in pursuit and as part of this pursuit, they shot the attacker and killed him,” a spokesman for the Wurzburg police said.

Last year Germany registered more than 1 million migrants entering the country, including more than 150,000 Afghans, various sources reported. Initial information indicated the ax attacker had come to Germany as an unaccompanied minor some time ago and had lived in the area for a while, reportedly at a refugee facility.
