If you listen to the loudest and most shrill pop culture voices, this is what you hear: The sky is falling! We must impeach President Donald Trump!

Celebrities are in full-blown meltdown, and hoping the rest of America joins them in their 24/7 Trump hysteria.

The worst came Tuesday on “The View” from Whoopi Goldberg. The actress and comedian compared the new Trump administration to the Taliban.

“We have had a leader who’s repeatedly demeaned women, wants to defund organizations that benefit women, calls on the media to shut up, specifically wants to give preferential treatment based on religion — are these values really much different than the Taliban’s?” she asked.

Talk about displaying her privileged disconnect. We’re merely days into a democratically elected administration and Goldberg believes she’s living under the Taliban — a group responsible for countless acts of violence against women, homosexuals, children, and others.

“You know, here’s the thing. We have a Constitution that says these are the things that we don’t do. This is what makes us different from everybody else. Our media — nobody tells our media to shut up and just take it. Nobody. That’s not American. That is the Taliban,” she said later, doubling down on her efforts to compare Trump’s administration to an authoritarian militant group.

Goldberg didn’t have such a meltdown when former President Obama put a temporary ban on refugees. In fact, there wasn’t a whole lot Goldberg could find to complain about for eight years under Obama, despite the former leader’s failures even by a liberal’s standards. Now, Whoopi’s comparing Trump to a terrorist organization. With such extreme rhetoric, this is a leap for someone who’s paid to talk politics and culture on television — but we digress.

Goldberg is far from the only celebrity to be losing her mind over Trump. “My loving God, who would NOT be building walls, pulling people off planes, judging and punishing. But SOMEONE wants to play God. But You’re not God. You [Trump] are a power-hungry, flawed, narcissist human who does not feel like we are all human,” tweeted “NCIS” actress Pauley Perrette about President Trump and his temporary refugee ban on the night of the SAG Awards — another Trump-obsessed and bashing event.

Meanwhile, “Titanic” and “Avatar” director James Cameron made his feelings very clear about the new president and his administration in an interview with The Daily Beast. “These people are insane,” he said.

He continued, “Years ago, we sort of spotted the iceberg ahead of us and we called out the order to turn, and we’ve been slowly, slowly, slowly trying to turn this big-a** ship to not hit the iceberg, and then Trump grabbed the tiller and just plunged it right back at the center of the iceberg.”

“Beetlejuice” and “Batman” actor Michael Keaton tweeted about Trump’s temporary ban on refugees from certain countries: “Big thank you to Trump for handing ISIS ANOTHER recruiting tool. Nice job Birther Boy!” He added, “This administration creates mayhem with no end in sight.”

So a temporary refugee ban is a recruiting tool for ISIS — but Obama’s continuation of the wars despite past promises and drone strikes were not? Keaton never felt a need to comment under Obama.

“I pray for sanity and compassion to return to the White House,” posted Jennifer Lawrence in a lengthy update to her Facebook page, criticizing Trump and his administration.

Meanwhile, Trump opportunists like Michael Moore have exploded their Twitter feeds with misinformation and conspiracy theories. Moore has insisted in recent days that a “21st-century coup” is underway and he’s repeatedly called Trump’s recent executive order a “Muslim ban” — which it is not.

Late-night host Samantha Bee has taken her Trump obsession a step further than others. She recently announced she would be hosting a “Not the White House Correspondents Dinner,” a spoof of the actual White House Correspondents Dinner, set to air on TBS.

The event will include celebrities and journalists and will give Bee more of a chance to bash Trump than her show already provides.

The hysteria from Hollywood is off the rails. Maybe some celebrities should take a vacation.

The world is not ending. We do not have a dictator. There is no Muslim ban. People may disagree with Trump and some of his actions, but he is a democratically elected leader and is the American president. That latter fact alone was enough for a big swath of these people to give Barack Obama their respect when he was in office — why not this time around? Criticism is one thing. Acting as if every single political move by someone of a different political persuasion is moving the doomsday clock forward is ridiculous.

When Obama implemented a refugee ban while in office, there were no protests, no teary-eyed acceptance speeches at awards shows, no talk of the end of the world. It’s time to move political discussions beyond pettiness, hyped-up rhetoric, and outright insults.
