Musician Stevie Wonder opened the “Hand in Hand” telethon event Tuesday night with a small speech and a musical number.

The telethon was meant to raise funds for victims of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.

The massive celebrity undertaking — which included participation from people as varied as Bruce Willis and Justin Bieber — had a theme reiterated again and again onscreen: Events like Irma and Harvey do not discriminate.

As a result, celebs pushed for unity throughout the night.

Yet Stevie Wonder started things off on an altogether different note. After calling for unity, he then blurted out, “Anyone who believes there’s no such thing as global warming must be blind or unintelligent.”

It was an odd moment of divisiveness — and had no place onstage at such an event.

While other people pushed for togetherness and generous giving to help the victims of Harvey and Irma, Wonder, who is 67, selfishly chose to use his platform to insult people who disagree with his views.
