Type in “car,” add the word “karaoke,” and suddenly millions of videos are at your fingertips.

You’ll probably be routed to YouTube, where you’re sure to find endless hours of entertainment with James Corden, the funny man who stars in “The Late Late Show” on CBS. But if we’re being candid, the British comedian’s Internet click bait, “Carpool Karaoke,” is his true claim to fame.

Corden specializes in humanizing celebrities as he rides around in a car, blaring music and making jokes with the shiniest of stars. His big-name friends are often surrounded by paparazzi, fans and stylists. So when they jump in a car with James for an hour alone, they appear incredibly at ease and in the moment … almost human!

Not to mention, there’s something uncommonly entertaining about a very famous person singing his hits in an incredibly ordinary way. James has chauffeured some of the greatest — ranging from Stevie Wonder and Adele to pop and country stars like Justin Bieber, Iggy Azalea, Jennifer Hudson and Carrie Underwood. Although the videos average a whopping 13 minutes (our usual attention span for quick videos is minutes max), the viewer is left with a tangible sense of enjoyment and finds it hard to click away… especially when Adele dominates a Nikki Minaj rap.

But it’s not just the rich and famous who have driven their way to a renewed sense of karaoke-fueled Internet stardom. YouTube is crawling with raw car karaoke talent, and some sheer fearlessness that’s on display for the world to see. If you’re clip binging, you’re bound to run into the good, the bad and the cringeworthy that can take you down a pretty deep car karaoke rabbit hole.

Some are just plain silly, reminding you of how you feel on the inside when you hear that one song that just makes you want to dance and causes you to make involuntary weird faces. Some are so incredible, you think it a crime they’re not selling concert tickets.

Families that lip sync Disney songs with their kids become your family. And the girl group SketchShe just takes it to another level, costume changes and all. They’re easy on the eyes, they have props and they’re engaging.

But why is this new Internet sensation verging on the popularity edge of cat video status? Simply put, singing in the car is relatable.

Any doubts, fears or social anxiety are washed away as you realize you’re not the only weirdo who rocks four wheels on the daily.

So next time you’re stuck in traffic, remember, your car is your stage. Hook up your Go-Pro and rock out like it’s your 21st birthday — but sing with caution. Wear your seatbelt, keep both hands on the wheel, eyes on the road, but keep your inner pop star alive at the same time.
