This year’s “Danny Collins” looks at an aging rocker who still makes women swoon. Only these women are eligible for AARP.

They’re roughly the same age as Danny, and he’s deflated to see a sea of gray hair at every tour stop.

Growing old gracefully can be challenging both for rockers and their fan base in a culture that often dismisses our elders.

We’ve all seen singers trying too hard to look youthful, and sometimes that vintage rock tee you crushed in your 20s just doesn’t flatter you like it once did. In short, when are we too old to rock our favorite concert ware?

Jodie Filogomo, a style expert who focuses on fashions for women north of 40 via jtouchofstyle.com, says it’s not so much about the vintage tee but the accessories accompanying it.

Growing old gracefully can be challenging both for rockers and their fan base in a culture that often dismisses our elders.

Just because you’re watching an ’80s band doesn’t mean you should revisit those acid washed, high-waisted jeans and high top Reeboks, Filogomo said.

“With that concert T-shirt, for the females, I would suggest some print skinny jeans, palazzo pants or a maxi skirt,” she said. “Then add a statement necklace or earrings.”

The summer is perfect for outdoor concerts, but that brings a unique set of issues for women.

“One should be smart about their shoe choices. Heels tend to sink into the grass, so flats are the foot covering of choice,” she said. Don’t forget about a classic sandal “to show off the painted toes!”

This summer, fringe is making a comeback, and it’s a perfect look for summer concerts, Filogomo said.

Men have fewer sartorial choices, particularly when it comes to accessories. So stick to the basics, she said.

“For the guys, try a skinnier jean, either colored or black, and a lightweight leather jacket with bright-colored Converse sneakers,” she said.

Women also should consider a cross body purse so they won’t worry about leaving it behind.

Celebrity lifestyle expert Dorothy Cascerceri says there’s nothing wrong with rockin’ a vintage rock tee. Just keep that midriff covered and stick to one simple rule.

“There’s no greater fashion faux pas than wearing the T-shirt of the band you are seeing,” she said, adding that a distressed pair of jeans is fine … to a point.

“Too many rips and tears can make it look like you’re trying too hard,” Cascerceri said.

If the weather cooperates, she suggests women break out a flowery sundress, Coachella-style.

Style decisions may evolve as we get older, but it shouldn’t prevent people from enjoying the best music the summer season has to offer.

“What you wear and age are not intertwined,” Filogomo said.
