Pharrell to Women: Hillary’s Dishonest, So Are You

Music producer and singer Pharrell Williams is the latest star in the endless parade of celebrities who are doing last-minute stumping for Hillary Clinton. Williams appeared at a rally for the Democrat in North Carolina on Thursday and talked her up in Beverly Hills at Variety’s “Inclusion Summit” on diversity.

“If all the women in this nation decided to vote and support the first female candidate, there’d be nothing to worry about,” Williams said at the Variety event. “It’s that easy.”

“I wonder if I’m actually hurting her chances of winning?”

Of Clinton, he added, “Has she been dishonest about things? Sure. Have you?” He added, “She don’t lie no more than any other politician does.”

At the end of a conversation, Williams — who is married with a son named Rocket and a second child on the way — was asked how the social and political polarization of the day has impacted him and his work. He said women need to take control of society. “I’m praying that women come together and save this nation,” he said. “You think about the destructive things that have come from mankind — it’s mostly men.”

Williams never said Trump’s name, instead asking the crowd: “Are we going to let this other situation take over and remind us what ‘great’ used to be?”

At the Raleigh rally earlier on Thursday, Williams appeared on stage with Bernie Sanders, as the singer’s big hit, “Happy,” played. Williams pushed the need for a woman in the Oval Office.

“How dare anyone question a woman’s ability? Every person on this planet was brought into this world by a woman. Women carry so much every day, including us for nine months,” he continued. “Don’t we call the planet Mother Earth?”

Another famous feminist also is touting Hillary before the final days of the election. Actress Lena Dunham has just released a “Funny or Die” video (which is too expletive-filled to share) about wearing pantsuits and voting for Hillary.

In the video, Dunham dresses up as “MC Pantsuit” and defends “the nation’s baddest grandmother.” In the rap sketch, Dunham feels the need to strip down to her underwear for some reason. Even Dunham herself questions the move, saying, “I wonder if I’m actually hurting her chances of winning?”

Tonight, Jay Z — and his wife Beyoncé — are expected to give a free concert on behalf of Clinton in Cleveland. Other performers may include Jennifer Lopez and Katy Perry.
