Just when it appeared Megyn Kelly’s show couldn’t sink any lower, she somehow defied expectations and gave NBC News another reason to regret its reported $17 million investment.

After a softball and heavily mocked interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin and a controversial sit-down with InfoWars founder and host Alex Jones, her show, “Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly,” could not best repeats of “60 Minutes” in total viewers. Her latest program managed to be the lowest-rated yet.

The latest episode of Kelly’s show “averaged a 0.4 rating in adults 18-49 and 3.4 million viewers, according to Nielsen data … That is down from a 0.5 and 3.6 million viewers [for] last week’s episode.”

To give that better perspective, the episode before — which featured the Jones interview — was the lowest rated-installment before this one.

To make matters worse, this latest program lost to a rerun episode of “America’s Funniest Home Videos,” which earned 3.9 million total viewers.

At this point, it appears only a matter of time before NBC News cuts Kelly’s show or finds a way to sideline her. Frankly speaking, $17 million is supposed to buy a network a lot more than a heavily criticized news program that loses to repeat viewings of a show with silly pet videos.
